Today I cooked a lamb curry. Cooking things like curries in my house is a tightrope walk of the kitchen, because I have to make it spicy without being hot in the mouth in any way. But I am happy to report that I nailed it. Probably because once again, I distrusted my culinary creativity and used a recipe.
In other news, I’ve been continuing my And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead education since I am going to see them in less than 24 hours (can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!). So today I’ve been blasting the Lost Songs album. Continue reading
What a great name for a band. I’m pretty sure it was that ridiculous name, coupled with the even more ridiculous band photo I saw in a magazine that I wish I could find right now, that made me want to check them out in the first place. I’ve loved these guys since I was a teenager, and discovering that they have, in fact, made new music in the last five years that I haven’t heard yet is a great excuse to talk about them.
And we’re back with the second half of the Soundwave Festival weekend recap. On Saturday night, where I left Part One, I was very aware of how dead I was and I figured that opening up the show on Day 2 would be even harder than Day 1; not only are people not ready to really get crazy first thing in the morning, but I can’t be the only one who was feeling completely rooted from head to toe from the first day. Walking and lifting my arms above the horizontal were challenges, let alone diving back into the moshpit. Continue reading
Soundwave! Anyone who has been reading my blog may have noticed that I’ve been quivering with excitement about this weekend for quite a while now. And it finally arrived. It’s now Monday, I am exhausted and feel as though I’ve been hit by a car of some kind. So the only thing left is to tell you all about it… Continue reading
Ten days out! Wooooo! Get hyped. Maps have been released, which means I can see which stages are furthest away from each other (naturally the most inconvenient ones). Which means I can think twice about rushing from one end of Homebush to the other and back when I can no longer feel my legs. This may be the last one of these that I do, my weekend seems to be coming together and there are no more bands that I would have time to see left on the table. Maybe after Soundwave I’ll go back and check out the bands that I missed. Anywho, back to our sheep. Continue reading
Seen that yesterday was one of those times where I left for work at 5:30am, and am just about to go home now at 8am the following morning…it was a pretty light day for adventures. I did listen to yet another band (we’ll get to that) and then threw all caution to the wind, dared the lightning, took the bull by the horns and…ate chocolate with nuts in it. I know…I know! I survived, FYI. Survived to tell more tale of Soundwave bands… Continue reading
Soundwave is less than six weeks away now. I am inordinately excited about this. I mean, I’m just saying, I may mention it once or twice between now and then. And while in the general living of my life I would probably be considered the most disorganised person on earth, my annual sojourn to Soundwave transforms me, savant-like, into a hyper-organised obsessive compulsive. I spend an outrageous amount of time beforehand planning out a rigid minute-by-minute schedule to adhere to, like some anal retentive drill sergeant putting myself through maneuvers. Soundwave is not a festival for me. It is a mission. Continue reading
