Today I cooked a lamb curry. Cooking things like curries in my house is a tightrope walk of the kitchen, because I have to make it spicy without being hot in the mouth in any way. But I am happy to report that I nailed it. Probably because once again, I distrusted my culinary creativity and used a recipe.
In other news, I’ve been continuing my And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead education since I am going to see them in less than 24 hours (can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!). So today I’ve been blasting the Lost Songs album. Continue reading
Today I lifted weights. Or maybe since I am in such an 80s mood today (more on that later) I should say…I pumped some iron. This is incredibly new to me. I’ve done countless squats in my life, for example (most of them in June) but never with actual weights before. Continue reading
There, I said it. I want abs.
That may be the weirdest thing to come out of my mouth so far this year. I have never been that guy, never really even thought about it before. Although I am reminded of that strange episode in Year 8 when a girl in my class asked to see my six-pack. Continue reading
Last night I went to the WWE live event in Sydney. Seeing the show come to town is such a different experience than the endurance challenge that is sitting through WWE’s weekly TV shows, with all of the talking, production, overbooking and bullshit that goes along with it. It can be exhausting, but if you feel exhausted by WWE TV, go see a live show. Trust me. Continue reading
No, not a rude person from Jamaica, but rather today I made roast pork with a jerk marinade. Unlike all of my other cooking experiments, where I read recipes and then think I’m a better chef than everyone else and just make my own up, this time I accepted the fact that I know nothing about Caribbean cuisine, and used a recipe. Continue reading
Today I tried a flat white. My second ever coffee. I imagine that any Australians reading this will be thinking “How old are you??” Much as I imagined they were after my first coffee. (Please let us all studiously ignore the fact that I happen to be wearing the same jeans and shoes today as I was two weeks ago. I do have more clothes than this, I promise.)
Any non-Australians reading this will probably be mightily confused, wondering what on earth a flat white is. Continue reading
Today I wanted to get back into the swing of things after this weekend’s brief foray into #auspol, but then I happened upon Christopher Columbus and started reading, which quite frankly wasn’t exactly the break from white people being racist that I had hoped for. But Columbus did lead me to the people who discovered North America before him, which was far more interesting. Continue reading
